I work a very early schedule so when I get on the highway at 5:30 am there are not many other drivers on the road. On this morning it was raining and I was driving a little too fast. I had only been on the highway quarter mile I heard a voice that said “Slow down”.

I was aware that I heard it but I justified my driving; there wasn’t much traffic and I had new tires. I felt confident that I was okay. About 2 miles further down the highway I heard the voice again, ‘Slow down”. Again, I was aware but dismissed it.

Then about another mile down the road the voice said, ‘This is your last warning, slow down”. “LAST WARNING?” That got my attention.

I slowed down as I was approaching a curve in the highway. I was in the left lane, there was a small sedan in the middle lane about 2 car lengths ahead of me, and in the right lane was a van about 3 car lengths in front of the sedan. As I slowed down, the distance between me and the sedan widened. Just at that time the van in the right lane lost control and slid across the middle lane, and was doing a complete 360 degree turn around the sedan! I don’t think it could have been choreographed that the van could do a complete turn around the sedan and not hit it – all while driving highway speeds! It crossed all three lanes of traffic and returned to the right lane. If I had not slowed down I would have been in that area where he slid and he surely would have hit me or I would have hit him. I am glad that God was patient with my stubbornness and that he blessed me with three warnings.
