My mother passed away on December 31st, 2009. She devoted her whole life to the church and God. My name is Jim and she always called me Jimmy. We were all with her in the nursing home and we knew she was very close to dying.

The priest came in and anointed her. After he left the power went out in the nursing home and came back on. An hour later the fire alarm went off and the nursing staff could not figure out why. The hospice nurse told us it was getting close and that we should go in the room and say our final goodbyes. I couldn't go in because it was too hard for me.

Moments later on the nursing home music system a song came on. The song is called "Goodbye Jimmy Goodbye". She passed away three minutes after the song was over. I believe she was saying goodbye to me before she died.

I feel all the events that happened on that day were a sign from God taking her to heaven. It was her way of letting me know that it's OK.
