On February 16, my husband, George and I will celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. There is no doubt God brought us together! (A big wink!) On our first meeting George tells how I "fell for him" immediately! I literally did fall for him! SPLAT! Right at his feet, my nose on the tips of his shoes! My parents were the custodians of the church I grew up in. Due to a lack of funds, I had to move back home instead of staying at college. I was discouraged and really frustrated at the turn my life had taken. One particular Sunday afternoon, they insisted I go and unlock the church so a group from Campus Crusade could come in and set up their presentation for the evening service. I didn't want to and protested. The phone rang and it was a friend of mine. She asked if I could unlock the church so she could practice on the piano for an upcoming service. I couldn’t say no to her so I met her at the church to let her in. While there, the crew from Campus Crusade crew arrived. Through a small window in the door to the sanctuary, I spied a tall dark haired guy with red sideburns and moustache making his way toward us. I quietly commented very favorably about him to my friend as he unknowingly approached us on the other side of the door. When he was a few feet away, my friend opened the door and gave me a shove, causing me to lose my balance and land right at his feet! 37 years later, two sons and two beautiful grand daughters have blessed our lives. Little did I know back then, that while God was re-directing my path away from college, He was introducing George to a guy at work who led him to Christ and got him involved in Campus Crusade. God was smiling and "Winking" at us both, guiding us in the steps that would someday bring us together! We are blessed! Linda |
