After escaping an abusive marriage in 2000, my kids encouraged me to sell the house, an old duplex, because it was full of "bad memories". I responded that it was my Goliath and I had won. The house felt like a trophy of sorts.

However, earlier this year, I felt a nudge that God had a big change coming. I wanted to be ready so I put my house on the market and instantly got interest from the administration of a local college. But, when it came time for a formal offer, they backed away and asked me to donate it instead. Still recovering from a divorce and all the bills left by my ex, there was no way I could afford to do this.

Then, following an upheaval at my work, I found myself unemployed. This did not feel like the blessed change that I was waiting for.

But, by becoming unemployed, it dropped my income just enough that the door opened for me to return to college, a life long dream. And, I realized that when I receive my degree in psychology, I will want to get office space in exactly THIS neighborhood and I could not have asked for a better location than the one I have. Being a duplex, I can move into the back and have a quiet cozy home with a large yard and use the front as office and counseling space. The icing on the cake is that about the same time as I finish my degree, I will also be totally debt free.
